Yachting Ventures and GALAXIA Electric Boat Show announce key partnership on an initiative to discover and support startups working on CleanTech solutions to protect the BlueEconomy.

Are you a CleanTech startup raising finance to help transform ocean health?

We want to hear from you!

Taking place in Portugal from 12th-14th May 2023, GALAXIA encompasses lifestyle and community whilst showcasing the latest electric boats and technology. With headline partners such as X-Shore, Aqua superPower and Torqeedo, the 2023 GALAXIA boat show stands to be the largest and most focused collection of electric boats in Europe with a forecast of 20,000 attendees.

The first day of GALAXIA will be focused on promoting a dialogue of protecting the Blue Economy and sustainability of our oceans via the GALAXIA Interstella Conference, held in partnership with Marina de Lagos. The conference will be an interactive forum for electric boat manufacturers, industry professionals, infrastructure providers, government officials, and students to share best practices, to identify barriers, and to foster a community of working relationships.

As part of the GALAXIA Interstella Conference, Yachting Ventures will be organising and providing a space for 4-5 startups to showcase their CleanTech solutions to a panel of investors and industry leaders. The pitching competition will be judged by national and international investors, who are experts in the sector and are actively seeking investment opportunities in this space.

“With years of experience in the startup world, we know how hard it is to get in front of the right people. GALAXIA is excited to use our platform, alongside Yachting Ventures, to continue to drive the Blue Economy and highlight Portugal as one of the leaders in entrepreneurship.”

-Christina Hunt, Brand Director and COO

Supported by the European Investment Fund (EIF), Portugal is one of the leaders in the mission to accelerate investment into the Blue Economy. There are several prominent VC funds active in the region, including Indico Capital - who recently launched a €50M ocean tech fund. Additionally, Lisbon hosted not only the United Nations Ocean Conference back in June 2022, but will soon also be hosting the World Ocean Initiative, organised by the Economist, in February 2023.

Yachting Ventures is a global startup hub for the leisure marine and yachting industries, providing the network, education, and opportunities that founders need to scale and raise investment. Commenting on the partnership, Gabbi Richardson, founder of Yachting Ventures said,

“We’re excited to offer startups a platform to pitch to qualified investors at a boat show dedicated to accelerating the electric revolution and safeguarding the BlueEconomy. GALAXIA has created something truly special.”
